Mental illness affects 38 percent of Europeans, study shows

Europeans are plagued by mental and neurological illnesses, with almost 165 million people or 38 percent of the population suffering each year from a brain disorder such as depression, anxiety, insomnia or dementia, according to a large new study.

Having lived and worked in Bible Belt country for 5 years, I'm neither astonished nor dismayed at the poll results. Many people firmly believe that the moon landing was staged in a TV studio and that 9/11 was an inside job...also note that a high percentage of minority residents(more than 40% of our population) believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible.

You've been hanging out with too many intelligent, well-educated individuals...it's distorted your view of society.

ERRR Seems suprisingly low that figure!! I would reckon 99.9% of the human race suffer from, what shall we call it(?!?), 'mental issues'..Most of us are gropping around in our own mis-concieved darkness with a glimpse of light thrown in now and then..Whats new?!?
