Four years later it is still about unbuttoned jackets...

Mr. Andsnes played the piece while seated calmly, never bothering to unbutton his stylish suit jacket.
Anthony Tommasini, New York Times, January 19, 2008

... in his modest yet commanding way, without even unbuttoning the jacket of his suit, Mr. Andsnes brought out excitement, inventiveness and beauty in works by Haydn, Bartok, Debussy and Chopin.

What the fuck is it with Tommasini and Leif Andsnes' unbuttoned jackets (stylish or otherwise)?

Saw Michael Gielen conduct some Webern one time..He was wearing one of those jackets that had metal buttons that jumped and jangled against one another whenever he gave it some with his arms and body..Now given the many conducted silences and tendency towards ppp anyway in Webern's music that was always gonna be plainly ridiculous..Of course no one in the band was ever gonna tell him to get shot of it..This was one jacket with its stupid buttons needed putting out its (and my) misery..It had no place in a concert hall!
